Reflect and Perfect

Question 2 Analyse how far the extract depicts the polices point of view rather than the criminals. This extract shows the police's point of view much more than the criminals. When the crime takes place, the viewers can fully understand the police's emotions because they can easily see their reactions due to their facial expressions and quick movements. However, due to the fact that 'Cuffs' was shown pre-watershed, the police could not swear or be too aggressive, which would usually happen in this scenario. Viewers can also fully understand the police's emotions when one police officer informs the others that a crime has occurred through her walkie-talkie, you can hear that she is scared because she is shouting and has a nervous tone. Overall, viewers are shown the police's feelings and emotions clearly. As well as that, police's point of view is shown much more than the criminals as the police are all filmed with close ups unlike the criminals, who are...

Media Language - Little Mix and The Vamps

Explain one way that the music videos use media language to differ from each other. Refer to one example of contrasting language in two music videos you have studied to support you answer (4 marks) 'Black Magic'  and 'Somebody to You' contrast each other a lot. For example, in  'Black Magic' , the location is set in a school which makes the band seem more relatable to the target audience which is female teenagers. Viewers may see this video and feel like they can relate the band and want to listen to more of their music. On the other hand, 'Somebody to You' is set on a beach which connotes that the band are living a fun, carefree life. Their target audience of young teenagers may view this as being admirable and look up to the band because it seems like they are having fun.

How Far Do You Agree HW

How far do you agree that the two videos you have studied are conventional for the genre? (POP) Music videos have very different conventions/approaches due to the genre of the music and the audience listening. Black Magic (BM) and Somebody to You (STY) are both pop songs. Most pop song music videos conform the the typical idea of having bright lights, bold colours and sexual outfits. Many pop conventions are featured in (BM). An example of this is half way through the video, the four girls get turned into stereotypical, overly sexualised girls, in revealing clothes. The majority of Little Mix's audience is young girls. This can be negative as girls may feel that to have a successful music video and get boys to like you, they must be overly sexual and always look perfect. (STY) is also a very conventional pop music video. The video has close ups of each of the boys in the band as well as close ups of Demi Lovato , who is featuring in the s...

Representation

Representation Star image A stars image becomes a readily recognised sign that is used in many different media forms. Stars can use the fact that their image has meaning by allowing it to be used for advertising purposes. A pop star is a manufactured image and does not correlate to person's personality behind the image. Somebody to you representations The group of girls- The group of girls appear to be at the age of 16-18. Their costumes are very revealing, they are mostly wearing bikinis throughout the video, if not short revealing clothes. All the girls appear to be white, there is no diversity or ethnic equality. These girls could offend girls of different shapes and sizes, due to the girls being inclusive, due to them all being skinny and of the same shape and colour, this could make people of different ethnicity, shape or culture feel they won't be able to get another boys attention if they don't look like a typical pretty girl, this conforms...

Music Videos Theoretical Language

Music Videos Theoretical Language Language, Representation, Audience, Contexts Our 2 Key study videos: Little Mix - Black Magic Genre: Pop The Vamps & Demi Lovato - Somebody to You Genre: Pop Why do artists feature other artists in their videos/or their tracks? Because one of the artist's audience may not know the other artist in the track and will discover a new singer and start listening to their music. If the audience is the same, why are the videos so different? Because the songs have very different lyrics, so even though they have the same target audience, the video will not fit with both songs. Audience

Audience Audience's today consume music videos for uses and gratifications. They may want to watch music videos for several reasons, like to fill time, entertain themselves or to distract them from negative things happening in the real world. Viewers may learn new information by watching them. As well as this, audiences may take personal identity from the video, identifying with the star, whether thats their attitude, behaviour or fashion sense. They may be inspired by the way a singer dresses, and try to dress like them. e.g: someone may watch 'Ariana Grande' in a music video and want to dress like her.  Friendships may be made as the audience will start talking to someone because they like the same songs/music videos. A specific audience can build a relationship with their celebrity role model by buying their merchandise or branded products. e.g: Buying 'Kylie Jenner's makeup line.
