Magazine Revenue

Magazine Revenue  How are magazines funded commercially? Magazines receive revenue from: circulation (cover price - £5.25 for MOJO in 2017) advertising (in MOJO, mostly live or recorded music, with some fashion advertising) mass advertising (appeal to large audiences) cross-promotion for other Bauer brands, such as Empire Sponsored content and product placement, for example, 'MOJO listens to its music on Roksan equipment' How do they use different funding models to generate income The print magazine industry is suffering from falling advertising revenues and falling circulation as many of their audience go online Their response has been to diversify as much as possible - events are a good example of this - and to move magazines online  Sponsored content and product placement, for example, 'MOJO listens to its music on Roksan equipment' Sponsored events,  e.g.: Vogue sponsores fashion events Funding Baur Media i...

MAGAZINE OWNERSHIP & NRS

Magazine Ownership & NRS The magazine industry is mostly owned by publishing companies, rather than the very large media conglomerates such as disney, amazon and Netflix that dominate film and tv media worldwide. Most magazines are struggling in a competitive market so this media from, print, may be managed by owners who specialise in the print medium. However, magazine publishing is globalised, like other media, with the most popular magazine brandish the hands of a few international companies. NRS: National Readership Survey Collator for the magazines, collet all the data.

MOJO Representations

♡ MOJO Representations ♡ Stereotype articles: the language is formal which is a stereotype as the target audience is a higher class, which assumes they all speak very formally assuming the rock genre is mostly for men therefore mostly only feature pictures of men and article about men Countertype: some covers promote lgbt (Elton John for example)which  is a countertype because the artists in the rock genre are often straight Countertype: females in a rock magazine - reflects that not all females are sensitive and listen to pop music.  LGBT Most of the time it is straight artist that are on the front cover or featured inside. This reflects how the majority or artists in the rock genre are straight.  However MOJO has featured some lgbt artists (like Elton John) which reflects how society is more accepting of other sexualities There is no particular sexuality promoted as readers care mostly about the music and don't pay attenti...
