Intertextuality

Intertextuality is when media texts make references to a pre-existing text. e.g: 'Ariana Grande' - 'Thank u, next'the video has intertextual content relating to 'Mean Girls', '13 going on 30', 'Bring it on' and 'Legally blonde'.

1. Identify 3 brands which are 'mocked' in the video - blink 182, all the small things
the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears and Christina Agulera

2. Why was this video so popular with audiences?
It was comical and fast paced which keeps audience engaged. The audience grew up with the text's referenced in the video

3. Why might it be good for institutions?
The views bring in profit and revenue and the original video/texts will gain popularity
