Media Industries and Representation

Media Industries and Representation

How many people are in MOJO:
Men: 311
Female: 73
Ethnic Minorities: 73

This is an unfair representation because there is clearly way more men than females. Also there are way more white people than any other ethnic minority. However, since the main target audience is white men, they can identify with people featured.

How may audiences interpret the magazine differently and how may these differences reflect individual differences and social differences?
A young audience may interpret the magazine differently to an older audience because an older audience may find the magazine very interesting and it is the type of music they listen to however a young audience may find it boring. Furthermore, people from ethnic minorities may find it hard to identify with anyone from the magazine because they are hardly represented. They also may be offended and feel like they are being excluded from society and from the music they like. Additionally,a female may also feel like they don't belong in the rock genre due to the fact they are barely any females represented.
