BBC radio 1 is not a commercial channel for multiple reasons; it is 75% funded by the public, therefore they do not have to rely on advertisements for money. This is because it is a Public Service broadcasting channel, meaning it is mostly funded by the public.

1.Have distinctive, high quality programmes
2. Reflect the diversity of Britain
3. Inform the public
4. Make original programmes rather than just importing cheaper American programmes
