Community radio stations are operated, owned, and influenced by the communities they serve.

Radio stations available nationally (Capital Xtra, Classic FM, Heart)
šCommercial 
Commercial radio licences are awarded by Ofcom. They have large commercial stations typically reach the largest audience.

    1. BBC radio 1 is not a commercial channel for multiple reasons; it is 75% funded by the public, therefore they do not have to rely on advertisements for money. This is because it is a Public Service broadcasting channel, meaning it is mostly funded by the public.

      Remember though that the PSB has to abide by its four rules...
      1.Have distinctive, high quality programmes
      2. Reflect the diversity of Britain
      3. Inform the public
      4. Make original programmes rather than just importing cheaper American programmes
